About

A festival company that had to build everything itself first.

Founded in 2015, GIFLIF is an event management, production and consultancy company working pan-India. It has built and produced its own event IPs across multiple cities — including Bhopal, Raipur and Gurugram — and curates artists nationwide.

We started by building our own festival, which meant learning everything the hard way and with our own money. Everything we sell now is something we had to solve for ourselves first.

How we got here

GIFLIF began in 2015 in Gurgaon as the Gurgaon International Film & Literature Festival. After the first edition it outgrew the name and became the Great Indian Film & Literature Festival — which turned out to be a commitment, because it then had to travel. It went to Bhopal. Then Raipur, twice. Along the way it put a mushaira on a moving metro and a poetry session on a lake cruise, because nobody told us we could not.

Indiestaan came later — the music IP, built to bring independent artists to cities the touring circuit skips. Lucky Ali played to eight thousand people in Bhopal.

Somewhere in there, brands started asking whether we would build theirs. That is the business now.

Why we sell what we sell

  • We built festival IPs because we had to build our own, from nothing.
  • We produce events in Madhya Pradesh because that is where we live and where we had to find every vendor, venue and permission ourselves.
  • We built the audience platform because we were selling our own tickets and needed to know what was working, not what was impressive.
  • We do YouTube because our own channel reached 363,000 subscribers and taught us what actually moves a click.
