About giflif

“The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival” popularly known as GIFLIF, is Asia’s first film and literature festival. We started in December 2015, with our inaugural edition in Gurugram with the name “Gurugram International Film and Literature Festival”. Soon, we changed the name to “The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival” because GIFLIF was now set to be a travelling festival, focusing also on regions that have no dearth of talent.

In September 2016, we started with GIFLIF Bhopal Chapter when approx. 7000 people of all age became a part of it. Being in the circuit for over a year, founders realized the significance of enriching and entertaining content. Hence, elements like plays, music concerts and poetry recitals were included in GIFLIF. Versatile personality Mr. Piyush Mishra mentor of GIFLIF since the inauguration launched his musical project “Ballimaaraan” at GIFLIF Gurugram Chapter 2016. This is an accomplishment for us even today!

Additionally, we have screened films from over 6 countries. We had conducted poetry contests for budding poets to encourage participation. Over 30 shortlisted poets, travelled in Rapid Metro Gurugram, and “Poetry on Wheels” went on to become a World Record.

In 2017, GIFLIF Bhopal Chapter was conducted and became a celebration that the capital had never witnessed. Be it eminent author Mr. Ruskin Bod’s first visit to Bhopal in 83 year or the first ever performance of Ballimaaraan. The edition was a massive hit with over 15,000 people in attendance and that brought us an invitation from the neighbouring state Chhattisgarh.

GIFLIF had made an impression with over 15,000 attendees, in its First edition held at Raipur, in January 2018.
The following two GIFLIF editions were held in Bhopal and Raipur, with new elements such as Musical Dastaangoi, Story Play, and Electronic Music introduced to the audience.

With 10 editions in various cities across India, including Gurgaon, Bhopal, and Raipur, our festival has made history as India’s first (2021) World Record by Harvard. Our mission is to promote the diversity and richness of Indian indie music, and to provide a platform for emerging artists to share their unique sounds and styles with the world.

Get ready to be swept away by the soulful sounds of Lucky Ali, Thaikkudam Bridge, Anand Bhaskar Collective, The Western Ghats, Bombay Bandook & Kavish Seth Collective and many more.
