About us
Maare Gaye Gulfaam is a powerful theatrical production that revives the timeless magic of Indian folk theatre. Directed and composed by the legendary Raghubir Yadav, the play is a dramatic adaptation of Phanishwar Nath Renu’s classic story Teesri Kasam, a tale deeply rooted in rural India’s heart and humanity.
Set in the rustic landscapes of rural Bihar, the story follows Hiraman, a humble bullock cart driver, whose life takes an emotional turn when he transports Hirabai, a nautanki dancer, to a village fair. Through their soulful journey, the play explores themes of innocence, dignity, and social prejudice, capturing the essence of Indian folk life with raw realism and lyrical beauty.
Presented through a blend of Parsi Theatre and Nautanki styles, the performance features live folk and classical music played on traditional instruments such as the tabla, harmonium, sarangi, and dholak. With a team of 26 talented actors, musicians, and dancers, the production creates a vibrant tapestry of sound, color, and emotion. Beyond entertainment, Maare Gaye Gulfaam is a cultural revival movement, aiming to preserve India’s dying folk art forms while offering audiences a deeply immersive experience. Supported by major partners and presented at a 1000+ seat auditorium in Bhopal, the event brings together theatre lovers, students, cultural leaders, and art enthusiasts for an evening of nostalgia, artistry, and soul-stirring storytelling that celebrates India’s living traditions.
